Inaugural International ArtScience Olympiad (IASO) Kicks Off in Miami

Miami, USA – The 2017 International ArtScience Olympiad (IASO), also known as the International Olympiad ArtScience Contest (IOASC), concluded successfully at the Miami branch of the IASO Organizing Committee from August 12 to 14, celebrating interdisciplinary innovation amid Miami’s thriving tech-art scene. The three-day event brought together 39 teenage participants from 8 countries, with a focus on merging cutting-edge technology with creative expression—reflecting the city’s emerging status as a hub for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) artistry.

Centered on the theme "Vitality in Fusion," the competition received 39 entries across categories including interactive installations, digital media, and bio-inspired art, with a 9-judge panel—made up of local scientists and contemporary artists—assessing works based on scientific rigor, artistic originality, and technical execution.

IASO Organizing Committee held a one-day public showcase of top entries at its Miami branch on August 15, attracting over 200 visitors including local students and art enthusiasts, and also hosted a workshop on VR art creation in line with the 2017 global boom in VR technology adoption.
